Banni grasslands in Kutch, Gujarat. A place that has a history of migratory nomadic pastoralists that goes back at-least half a millennia.  These pastoralists now call Banni home. A home that has changed drastically because of human intervention over the past few decades.

Prosopis juliflora; an invasive species that has invaded their lives and their land. With the changing environment around them, the pastoralists have adapted to a new way of life- charcoal making.

What does this mean for the land and its people and their cultural history that spans half a millennia?
